ocre x antonia maria

For our first collaboration, we teamed up with French ceramicist Antonia Maria to create this beautiful handmade Ritual Bowl. The perfect companion for your daily slow-down routine to enjoy your matcha, coffee, or tea. Each piece is handmade in Berlin, and the quantity is very limited.

"For this collaboration, we chose to create a bowl that adapts to the desires of each season. The bowl is wheel-thrown in light clay and shaped with a small rock. The glazing is the result of a personal recipe, developed from various clay collections. Each piece is unique and presents a distinct outcome, which I particularly appreciate when working with wild clays."

Please tell us a little bit about your background and how you connected with pottery?

Before turning to ceramics, I worked in interior design and completed various projects. I wanted to explore materials further and create objects with my own hands. Imprints were already a topic of interest for me, as was clay as a study material. I decided to find an apprenticeship to learn ceramic throwing, which led me to settle in Normandy for fourteen months to earn my ceramist diploma. For the past few years, I have been teaching throwing, handbuilding, and glazing, while also dedicating time to shaping pieces and studying forms and textures.

Each new creation is an invitation to reflection and poetry. The practice of ceramics opens the doors to the self and allows for a fascinating letting go. I place great emphasis on the role of the body when I teach, as it is the main driving force for successful creation. Pottery requires a great deal of patience and determination, which is why it is so important to embrace mistakes to better understand the material.

What fascinates you most about pottery?

This piece is meant to become part of your daily ritual. How do you try to integrate rituals in your daily life?

My rituals evolve through my travels, encounters, and readings. They are very important to me, as they help me find balance in my daily life and strengthen my beliefs. This bowl is a precious anchor, accompanying my matcha—a ritual I adopted after my trip to Japan. Preparing it rekindles memories within me, and I savor this wave of nostalgia, as if I could return; it’s a true form of meditation.
